Greg is an active sought-after drummer and tutor, working primarily in Bristol and the South West UK. Known for his dynamic versatility, Greg is equally at home playing with brooms or beaters on an intimate acoustic gig as he is smashing the kit at a festival.
Greg is a familiar face on Bristol’s jazz scene as well as the national festival circuit. He has played at Glastonbury, Womad, Boomtown, Lovebox, Priddy Folk and Shambala etc and has performed in a number of venues across the UK and Europe. Though Greg works predominantly live, he is also called on as a session player and has recorded at some of the country’s most prestigious studios including Abbey Road, Air and Strongroom in London and Toybox/Playpen, J&J’s and Invada in Bristol. Nowadays, he also operates from his own studio doing remote sessions (check the Recording page for details).
Born in France, Greg showed his creative prowess at an early age when he started making his own kits out of his parents’ washing powder boxes. Barely speaking a word of English, he moved to England at the age of 10, where he started having formal lessons and upgraded to plastic bowls and sellotape for drums. He earned his first kit at the age of 11, much to his parents’ surprise, after his father promised he could have one if he was one of the top-scoring students in his end-of-year exams. He went on to study at Drumtech, where he gained his Dip HE in Pop Music Performance, moving on to Bristol in 1998. Previous bands Greg has played with include dance/rock crossover Screen and their later hip-hop based incarnation All Live Dynamics, for which he was also an active writer and producer. He went on to co-create music for TV and radio based on the band's material. Later on, he became a member of the early 00's sensation Madnomad, before joining punk-rockers Tin Dogs, lively folksters K Passa and Flash Harry, Kreemo, Matuki and Baajo/Ben Badoo and the cinematic trio Pressplay, whose debut album he also produced.
Greg has a particular passion for improvisation and collaboration and is always interested in hearing about new projects.
